How to Make Organic Cold Infused Vanilla Bean Oil:

Vanilla infused oil is a cleaner, safer alternative because a true vanilla essential oil doesn’t actually exist. Vanilla beans can’t be steam distilled the way lavender, peppermint, or other botanicals are, so anything sold as a “vanilla essential oil” is almost always a synthetic fragrance, a chemical blend, or a solvent-extracted absolute using harsh ingredients like hexane. These versions can irritate sensitive skin and offer no real skincare benefits. Cold-infused vanilla oil, on the other hand, is completely natural, gentle, and rich in soothing antioxidants, giving you the warm, authentic vanilla scent without chemicals or irritation.

Jojoba oil is ideal for skincare because it mimics your skin’s natural sebum, absorbs quickly, and won’t clog pores. It’s gentle, nourishing, and extremely stable, which gives infused oils a long shelf life. This makes it the perfect carrier for vanilla beans—helping draw out their antioxidants and warm aroma while keeping the infusion fresh and skin-friendly.

Vanilla bean–infused oil is a versatile, skin-loving ingredient that can be used in body oils, tallow balms, lip balms, perfume rollers, cuticle oils, sugar scrubs, and massage blends. It adds a warm, natural vanilla scent while delivering antioxidants and soothing benefits that nourish dry or sensitive skin. Its gentle, comforting aroma makes it perfect for everyday moisturizers and self-care products.

List of Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of organic cold pressed jojoba oil
  • 5 organic Madagascar vanilla beans
  • Glass jar
  • Small knife (to split the vanilla beans)

Step 1: Add the jojoba oil to a clean glass jar
When making vanilla bean oil, I prefer to make a batch with 2 or 3 cups of jojoba oil and 10-15 vanilla beans because of the time it take for the vanilla to infuse the oil.

Jojoba oil is incredibly good for your skin because it mimics your natural sebum, helping balance both dry and oily skin. Jojoba oil is naturally antibacterial and anti fungal, it strengthens the skin barrier, and it is packed with vitamins and antioxidants that support healing. It also calms inflammation and soother irritation, making it ideal for sensitive skin.

Step 2: Split the vanilla beans down the middle long ways and gently scrap out all the seeds from the beans. Place both the beans and the seeds into the jar of jojoba oil.

Organic Madagascar vanilla beans are rich in powerful antioxidants that protect and nourish the skin, and the natural vanillin (the organic compound that gives vanilla its characteristics and aroma) provides soothing anti-inflammatory benefits. The anti-inflammatory polyphenols help calm redness and support overall skin comfort. Vanilla beans are incredibly gentle and non-irritating making them ideal for sensitive or reactive skin and promote relaxation.

Step 3: Close the jar and gently shake the jar to mix the beans, seeds, and oil. Store the jar in a cool, dark, dry place for 6 weeks. Shake gently every few days.

Cold-infusing vanilla beans is the best way to infuse oil because it preserves the beans delicate antioxidants and naturals benefits, keep the scent smooth and natural, protects the carrier oil from heat damage, and produces a gentler extract for sensitive skin. It also creates a richer aroma and avoids moisture getting into the jar that can occur when making with a heat-based method.

Step 4: Once the oil has been infused, strain out the vanilla beans and other large pieces of the bean. The oil is not ready to be used for body oil and perfume, candles, or natural skin care.

Vanilla bean–infused oil is perfect for tallow balms because it adds a warm, natural scent while delivering antioxidants and soothing compounds that nourish and protect the skin. Infused into tallow, it blends seamlessly to create a luxurious, skin-loving balm that hydrates, calms irritation, and elevates the sensory experience without any synthetic fragrances.

Cold infusing vanilla beans oil to use in skin care is the best way to extract the natural scent and benefits of a vanilla bean, without harsh heat and synthetic fragrances. The oil smells of the irresistible scent of warm and rich of vanilla. Using this infused oil in skin care creates the most natural and gentle product to use on skin. Making vanilla infused oil is not difficult and definitely worth the wait!
